Always use your best judgement with our toys however, we always recommend adult supervision at play time.
Stacking, knocking things over and putting objects trough other objects are a key part of child’s development around the ages of 9-12 months. At this age little ones are developing their coordination skills, moving their hands and feet around to achieve their goals and to match up the objects whilst simultaneously developing their understanding of cause and effect.
Learning through food play is a great way to encourage good eating habits with children. The real stuff is always preferred but to hold back on the messy play (which we highly encourage) get them playing with wooden versions of the real thing.
It will ease the food types into their psyche and prepare them for a varied and fruitful diet.
Children learn through doing. They learn through replicating actions they see you performing every day, but how often do they see you eat?
If you tend to eat after your children in the evening, they won’t see you eating your food and may not build that crucial positive association. So by encouraging play both with real food and play food they will begin to build positive interaction with the food they consume.
Remember, you are what you eat…. urrr wood?
